YOU CAN HAVE CLASS! YOU CAN BE A CONTENDER! YOU CAN BE SOMEBODY INSTEAD OF A BUM... WHICH YOU ARE! |
A couple days ago, we previewed the lower third of the One Night Stand Card. Now we move into the midcard, with five matches, four of which will decide a contender for either the NS, UV, Evo, or Unity Belts. Throw in a grudge or two, and you could be damn well exhausted from cheering before we even hit the top third!
WHAT'S AT STAKE: Uh, the loser has to kiss the winner's feet, which, honestly, probably will be a better deal for Candi than it would for Lozano. Lozano's feet seem alright, but I bet Candi's feet smell and taste like old plastic.
EXPERT ANALYSIS: You know, I absolutely LOVE it when a woman struts around the company acting like she owns the place, verbally abusing her colleagues and physically abusing cameramen and FFW Executives I had never seen before in my life despite being here for three years, all before she's even won her first match. Candi's not the brightest candle on the menorah, but she at least seems to be more grounded in reality than Valentina, who's probably going to snobbily be a bitch all the way to her third consecutive loss.
PROJECTED WINNER: Candi
WHAT'S AT STAKE: The long awaited rubber match between these two rivals, and while the first two contests were decided by submissions, this one will have to be. Bragging rights to the winner, humiliation to the loser, and oh yeah, now a shot at the No Surrender Championship is on the line, which squarely puts the entire division in Savage's corner. Seriously. And it's not because they're afraid of Sullivan.
EXPERT ANALYSIS: Neither woman had anywhere close to a stellar record in 2013, and neither woman's competed in FFW since October. In the meantime, Savage has been over in SVW driving poor Colleen batshit, while Sullivan's apparently been driving Caroline Stark batshit, for entirely different reasons. Ultimately, it comes down to what stunt Mileena's going to pull, and how prepared Sullivan will be for it. Considering Sullivan's cluelessness, being prepared's never been much of a strong point for her.
PROJECTED WINNER: Mileena Savage
WHAT'S AT STAKE: One free ticket to get their ass kicked by
Marla Lee
at Chaos Theory. Oh, and Undine and Hexstar kind of like each other. Undine and Emma kinda like each other. Everyone else hates each others guts, and wants to spill them piping hot and slippery all over the wrestling mat.
EXPERT ANALYSIS: The last time we had one of these, Gigante won relatively easily. But she didn't have to worry about Undine, Emma, or Kate then, so ramp that challenge factor up considerably. Emma's been in a bit of a slump, but she'll likely make damn sure Kate doesn't win, either. Factor in that you just don't know which Kate is going to show up, and the fact that Undine has looked DAMN good the last couple matches, and it's tough to vote against the Aquablonde.
PROJECTED WINNER: Undine
WHAT'S AT STAKE: Number one contendership for the tag titles. Also, the Rudos are looking to remain undefeated in two on two contests.
EXPERT ANALYSIS: KO/TO baffles me. You have Serafina, one of the longest reigning title holders in FFW history, and a formidable Claire Black, yet the sum of the parts seems to be greater than the whole. Every time you think they're about to make a run, they stumble, but every time you think the team's run it's course, they pull off a strong win. That being said, it's really tough to beat the Rudos, who are among the loosest wrestlers in the company- they don't seem all that responsive to pressure, positive or negative. Either way, look for this to be one of the best matches of the evening, and will likely hinge upon whether the Rudos can throw KO/TO off their game.
PROJECTED WINNER: Rudo Galactica
WHAT'S AT STAKE: This one's been brewing for a while, and a shot at the Evolution Championship awaits the winner- which really puts Easter's claim that the Evolution Division is the best in the company on some rocks. Arabella had all of five matches last year, J-Will's lost three of her last four (dating clear back to July), and while Samara just had a six match win streak broken, she's dull as fuck when she's not ruining Future Shock matches.
EXPERT ANALYSIS: Most statistical models are pointing to Samara, who will be the clear favorite entering the night, largely in thanks to the aforementioned streak and Femme For All run. That would be unfortunate, especially should Easter retain. I can't think of a more unappealing match-up than two of the most unlikeable women in the company fighting over the Evolution Championship. For an alternative, you could look at Williams, who's nicknamed Big Match Jenny for a reason. But while Arabella is a clear dark horse, she's capitalized in her share of big matches as well- the Future Shock Cup, against Mileena, and a huge win over Kat Stryfe. That's why I'm predicting the uspet special here.
PROJECTED WINNER: Arabella Black
